State Bar of Texas Award Honors DVAP
for its Pro Bono Service to Clients

Picture
The State Bar of Texas' Pro Bono Award honors a volunteer attorney organization that has made an outstanding contribution toward guaranteeing access to the legal system by low-income individuals and families. Our Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP) partnership with the Dallas Bar Association has gained local and national recognition for making an essential contribution toward ensuring access to justice for those who need civil legal help in Dallas County.

DVAP has invested in partnerships, such as collaborations with volunteer lawyers, private firms, corporations, and even the public sector.
DVAP uses a confidential online platform to connect clients to volunteer lawyers experienced in civil law issues such as housing, domestic violence, and consumer matters. Through these relationships, DVAP has assisted more than 10,000 Dallas residents in either resolving their legal issues through negotiation or direct representation in court.

DVAP is a joint program of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas created in 1997 when both organizations merged their previously separate pro bono programs to create one cohesive effort to address the legal needs of low-income people in Dallas.
