What They're Saying About Legal Aid
Julia A. Simon
I have been involved with Legal Aid for decades. Whether it was helping a domestic violence survivor finalize her divorce or doing intake to help connect an elderly homeowner with someone who could assist her with a property dispute, I felt proud to use my skills to help all in the community gain access to justice. The work of Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas is vital to the community and an incredible platform to allow lawyers to pay it forward – financially and through volunteerism.
Rachel Morgan
I support the work of Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas because it provides critical legal services to deserving members of our community. Legal Aid allows people to get support they would not otherwise be able to secure. Family law matters, landlord/tenant issues, expungement are all services that Legal Aid provides and all are services that change people lives. I can think of no organization more deserving of my support. And as a lawyer, I believe pro bono work is not only a passion, but also a responsibility.
Anne Johnson
Hi. My name is Anne Johnson and I am proud to support Legal Aid. I don’t think there’s has been a time in our country, in our state, in our cities, when the services that are provided by Legal Aid have been more important. They are such a critical part of the social safety net that supports people who cannot afford their own attorney, but who absolutely are deserving of representation in court. So that is why I am proud to support Legal Aid.
Michael Hurst
My name is Michael Hurst with the law firm of Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann and I have supported DVAP and pro bono legal services my entire career by financially supporting them, by volunteering, and by advocating because if you have the opportunity to see our low-income neighbors who need protection from domestic violence situations or households that need intervention but they can’t afford legal services - it’s heartbreaking! It is so important for our system of justice to work, but it can only work if it works for everyone.
